The Official NRL 2008 Musical - they said you couldn't make a stage show out of rugby league..

NRL Musical 2008:
The year 2008 will be remembered for a variety of off-field incidents that shook the rugby league fraternity to its very core. The threat of French Rugby Union, the ignominious departure of SBW, the re-emergence of the grapple tackle, and of course the many various acts of off-field debauchery have necessitated the need for an unofficial 2008 "NRL Musical"; based upon a variety of well-known stage shows.
PURE IMAGINATION (from Willy Wonka musical)
(Sung by Khoder Nasser to Sonny Bill Williams)
* No need to adjust these lyrics*
"Come with me and you'll be in a world of pure imagination
Take a look and you'll see into your imagination.
We'll begin with a spin traveling in the world of my creation.
What we'll see will defy explanation
If you want to view paradise
Simply look around and view it (i.e. the French Pyrenees)
Anything you want to do it.
Want to change the world?
There's nothing to it.
There is no life I know to compare with pure imagination.
Living there (in Toulon) you'll be free if you truly wish to be."
CARNEY TODD (Based upon the theme from Sweeney Todd)
"Attend the tale of Carney Todd.
His skin was pale and he thought he was God
He urinated on a gentleman
Who disappeared and was never heard of again
He trod a path that few have trod
Did Carney Todd
The loose 5/8 from Fishwick
He ruled the roost in Canberra Town
Of "All Bar Nun" and good renown
And what if he wasn't well behaved
Let him act like a man depraved
Its Carney,
Carney Todd.
The loose 5/8 from Fishwick"
SUMMER LOVIN' (Appropriated from the Grease Musical)
* Sung between Russell Crowe and the whole South Sydney team - Russell taking the role of Danny Zuko, Souths players playing the role of Sandy..)*
"Summer lovin' had me a blast
Summer lovin', happened so fast
I met a team, crazy for me
I met a boy, cute as can be
Summer days driftin' away,
To uh-oh those summer nights
Tell me more, tell me more,
Did you get very far? (why yes, i bought the whole team)
Tell me more, tell me more,
Like, does he have a car? (i'm certain that he has multiple cars)
They swam by me, they got a cramp (cramp being a metaphor for lack of funds)
He went by me, got my ([Armani) suit damp
I saved their life, they nearly drowned (financially)
He showed off, splashing (his cash )around
Summer sun, something's begun,
But uh-oh those summer nights
Tell me more, tell me more,
Was it love at first sight?
Tell me more, tell me more,
Did she put up a fight? (Only George Piggins did, really)
Took her bowlin' in the Arcade (for a team activity)
We went strollin', drank lemonade (how lovely..)
We made out under the dock (getting weird)
we stayed up until ten o'clock (rare for a rugby league team to go to bed so early)"
etc....
