Les Miles to stay at LSU!
January 12th 2011 00:03
Being a huge LSU fan from Louisiana and loving SEC football I truley had mixed feeling about Les Miles as head coach of LSU. After winning the 2003 BCS Championship and watching Nick Saban leave for the NFL left a bitter taste in my mouth. The taste never left until LSU won the BCS Championship again in 2007. I was a huge Miles critic because I was really convinced that Miles won the championship with Saban's recruits. It still took me a couple of years for Miles to prove to me that he was the man at LSU. The question that I asked myself the most did the nickname Madhatter really fit him or was that his style. After coaching at LSU for six years The numbers were there and were better than I expected. With a record of 62-17 after six years that was one stat that really opened my eyes. Not a bad average of 10 games per year. Miles is also 5-1 in bowl games in which 1 was a BCS Championship against Ohio State. A win in the Sugar Bowl against Notre Dame. Two wins at the Chic-Fil-A against Miami and Georgia Tech and this year with a win in the Cotton Bowl this year with a 41-24 win over Texas A&M with his only bowl loss coming at the Capitol One Bowl last year against Penn State. Miles also has a SEC title to add to his resume. Miles’ current LSU contract pays him $3.75 million per year, runs through 2014 and includes an annual one-year roll-over at the discretion of the athletic director that could extend the deal to 2015. The contract also would make him among the three highest paid college coaches should he win a second national title at LSU. With a huge recruiting class coming up in the future at LSU begining naext year I beleive that Les Miles mad the right choice to stay at LSU rather that rebuilding a program at Michigan. Les Miles has gained my respect as coach at LSU but then again who am I ? Good luck LES and GEAUX TIGERS!!!!!!
