Auburn quarterback Cam Newton waqs the big winnwer at the 2010 College Football Awards show Thursday night at Lake Buena, Fla. He took home three trophies proming him up for the biggest trophy of all on Saturday. Newto took home the Davey O'Brien award for the nations top QB, the Maxwell Award as the nations best allaround oplayer and the Walter Camp Player of the Year award. Cam is the heavy favorite to recieve thw Heisman in New York on Saturday.
Ten wards wre hande out were handen out durong the show on Thursday night of which 6 went to SEC players. Three going to Newton and two went to Patrick Peterson of LSU. Peterson an LSU cornerback took home the Chuck Bednarik Award for thr nation's best defensive player and the Jim Thorpe Award for the nation's top defensive player. Peterson is the first player to win both of these awards since Michigan conerback Charles Woodson in 1977.
Olkahoma State had a big night with Justin Blackmon bringing home the Biletnikoff Award for the nation's top wide reciever, and Dan Bailey won the Groza Award given to the Nation's top kicker.Oregon's Lamichael James won the Doak Walker Award for running back and Wisconsin's Gabe Carimi won the Outland Trophyfor the nation's best interior lineman
Bailey, Carimi and Henry were the only senior winners. Newton and Peterson are juniors, and Blackmon and James are both sophmores. I am sure we will be hearing a lot more from these winners.
